Frequently asked questions.
What counts as an event?
Every outbound API call your agent makes through Checkrd (allowed, denied, rate-limited, or halted) counts as one event. If our metering ever slows down, it fails open so policy enforcement never stops because of a billing system.
What happens if I exceed my monthly event quota?
Policy enforcement, rate limiting, and the kill switch keep working; those run locally and never depend on our billing system. You get email alerts at 80%, 100%, and 120% of your quota so there's never a surprise charge.
Can I use Checkrd without the hosted control plane?
Yes. The open-source SDK runs with local YAML policies, local telemetry, and a file-based kill switch (zero network calls). Fully air-gapped deployment is supported on the Enterprise plan.
What data do you store?
Only operational metadata: which host was called, HTTP method, the URL path with personal identifiers replaced by `{id}`, status code, latency, policy decision, matched rule, and a cryptographic signature. We never store request bodies, prompts, completions, response bodies, headers, or API keys.
